Chateau Mas Neuf + Le Petit Village

In 2012, we were introduced to Luc Baudet, the owner and winemaker at Chateau Mas Neuf in the southern Rhone Valley in France and a friend of our chef-partner Mehdi Brunet-Benkritly going back to Mehdi's days working at Au Pied de Cochon in Montreal.

We tasted Luc’s wines, which balance the rustic and refined in a manner similar to how we try to shape our restaurants. They also speak to the type of dining experience we try to foster in our spaces: excellent but not too serious, perfect for any occasion and priced to be accessible and repeatable.

We asked Luc to set aside a portion of his 2011 vintage red wine and 2012 white and rose for us to sell as our proprietary Happy Cooking wine. Luc has set aside a good amount of his 2012 Grenache-Syrah-Mourvedre blend for us and bottled in magnum format. We can't wait to serve it.

We chose to name this collaboration Le Petit Village (“the little village”), which references both our West Village home base and the “little village” of establishments we have created there.
